Starfish Construction is a nationwide Construction Company involved in the refurbishment and development of buildings across the UK. We are a Building Envelope and Fit-Out Contractor, specialising in all types of roofing, cladding, rainscreen cladding, curtain walling and internal refurbishment works across a wide range of sectors. We have delivered numerous high-profile construction projects for our Blue-Chip Clients.
In addition to upgrading the external fabric of buildings, the company also undertakes dilapidation works and licensed/non-licensed asbestos removal projects.
To support our ongoing growth in line with our Strategic Development Plans, we are currently recruiting for a Design & Technical Manager based in the London (Hammersmith) office to lead and coordinate the design aspects of complex roofing and façade/cladding projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and detailing of roofing, cladding and façade systems across multiple concurrent projects.
- Prepare and review detailed technical drawings, fabrication details, and 3D models (3D modelling not essential but beneficial).
- Coordinate design development with internal departments, clients, consultants, and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical input and guidance to project teams and site personnel to support the accurate and efficient delivery of projects.
- Liaise with external parties, including Fire Engineers, Structural Engineers, Building Control, and the Building Safety Regulator (BSR), where applicable.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, Building Regulations (ADB) and client specifications.
- Attend client and site meetings to resolve design issues and progress technical matters.
- Maintain a proactive approach to resolving technical queries and ensuring constructability.
- Provide ongoing technical leadership and design risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
- Proven experience in the design and detailing of roofing, cladding or façade systems within the construction sector.
- Excellent technical knowledge of façade systems, materials, tolerances and fixings.

To support our ongoing growth in line with our Strategic Development Plans, we are currently recruiting for a Design & Technical Manager based in the London (Hammersmith) office to lead and coordinate the design aspects of complex roofing and façade/cladding projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and detailing of roofing, cladding and façade systems across multiple concurrent projects.
- Prepare and review detailed technical drawings, fabrication details, and 3D models (3D modelling not essential but beneficial).
- Coordinate design development with internal departments, clients, consultants, and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical input and guidance to project teams and site personnel to support the accurate and efficient delivery of projects.
- Liaise with external parties, including Fire Engineers, Structural Engineers, Building Control, and the Building Safety Regulator (BSR), where applicable.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, Building Regulations (ADB) and client specifications.
- Attend client and site meetings to resolve design issues and progress technical matters.
- Maintain a proactive approach to resolving technical queries and ensuring constructability.
- Provide ongoing technical leadership and design risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
About You
- Proven experience in the design and detailing of roofing, cladding or façade systems within the construction sector.
- Excellent technical knowledge of façade systems, materials, tolerances and fixings.
- Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Revit, BIM, or 3D software would be advantageous.
- Strong coordination and communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines.
- Ability to manage multiple design packages and deliverables to tight deadlines.
- Familiar with UK Building Regulations and industry standards, including fire safety compliance.
- Experience working with or within the BSR framework is desirable.

To support our continued growth in line with our Strategic Development Plans, we are currently recruiting for a Site Manager based in Manchester to join our team to oversee a rainscreen refurbishment construction project.
Responsibilities
- Work to and promote Starfish Construction's culture and core values
- Site Manage the project
- Attend client and contractor meetings
- Work closely with our commercial team
- Provide support to different members of the Starfish Construction Team
- Ensure the site adheres to the highest H&S standards
- Carry out Site Safety Audits
- Quality Control

About you
- Extensive Project Management experience in delivering projects in Roofing, Cladding and refurbishment
- Excellent construction knowledge
- NVQ/HNC/BSc (Hons) Degree in construction/project management or demonstratable Construction Management Experience
- Site Manager Safety Training Scheme SMSTS
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme card holder CSCS
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, particularly Word, Excel, and Project
- Computer and Smart Phone/Tablet literate
- Strong Programme and Project Management Co-ordination
- Competent in Construction Health & Safety regulations and the ability to produce CDM documents, O&M Manuals and H&S files
- Ability to work to a consistently high standard with minimal supervision
- Desire to learn and develop
- Team working is essential
- Full, preferably clean, UK driving licence.
The successful candidate will be proactive, experienced in all aspects of project management and will be responsible for the successful management of the site, supervisors, and sub-contractors under their control.
Experience in managing projects and have a proven track record demonstrating the ability to deliver projects successfully. The candidate should be able to demonstrate good people management skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

These roles offer the opportunity for the candidates to progress to Senior Management and Company Board level and command exceptional earnings potential.
With a proven record of successful Project Management within roofing, cladding or general construction, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the operational and construction activities on-site. Within your role, you will ensure that the project runs to schedule and within internal budgets, finding solutions to problems as they arise whilst delivering commercial profitability, health & safety compliance, programme integrity and quality standards.
Main responsibilities of the role:
- You will be responsible for Project Planning and Operational Delivery of projects
- Appoint, manage, lead, monitor and motivate the Site Teams
- Promote, implement, and maintain best operating practices on site
- Coordinate with our Design & Technical Managers and be involved in the procurement of quality materials
- Allocate, control and monitor the efficient and effective use of material and plant resources to ensure that the project is executed according to the client's agreed programme and quality expectations
- To assess areas of risk and develop Safe Systems of work to create a Safe & Healthy working environment on-site
- To ensure that the company's systems and procedures are implemented in line with our ISO9001, 14001 & OSHAS 18001 accredited Integrated Management System

To succeed in this role, you will:
- Be ideally educated to HND or Degree level. A Project Management or Construction Degree would be advantageous but not essential
- Possess a high standard of general literacy, numeracy and business acumen
- IT literate; proficiency using key software systems including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
- Have demonstratable operations experience within the construction industry or related industry.
- Have an excellent broad-based understanding of all operational areas of the business, including design, estimating, QS and construction
- Be knowledgeable and experienced in production scheduling methods and work processes
- Be capable of excellent people skills and experience in managing or supervising Site Personnel, including subcontractors
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate both written and verbally at all levels - site personnel, client and board level
- Possess excellent working knowledge of health and safety regulations and sound practical experience in implementing and monitoring safe systems of work etc
- Have a good product and construction systems knowledge and in-depth, day-to-day working knowledge of the technical aspects of the products, plant, and machinery the company uses
